Driving a Mario Kart in Japan

Image
Image by Julián Amé from Pixabay My friend just came back from a holiday in Japan. she actually got proposed too while over there in the thick snow. A beautiful moment and stunning photos. My friend told me while in Japan, they drove Mario Kart’s on the road in Japan. Now, I knew about this but I also completely forgot about it. She said it was a bit scary driving on the road when you feel so small against the cars next to you. However, she loved how everyone in the cars were waving to them, while they were driving in their Mario Karts.  What I didn’t know is you also get to dress up to drive in the kart and they looked incredibly cute.  So what am I talking about exactly?  In Japan, you enter a go-kart type mini car on a real road in various places around Japan. It’s like a tour group and you drive two x two together in a group of go-karts. You can choose from tours that 60, 90 or 120 minutes long.  I do have to wonder if you get to see much during your travels, wa...

Seeing a Geisha in Japan

Image
Image by u_zv1vzaxjdh from Pixabay When one day I travel to Japan, I would like to see a Geisha. A Geisha in Japan is known for their entertainment and hosting of tea ceremonies.  I think they are beautifully dressed with wearing kimono’s and sandals with white socks. As well as their make-up beautifully displayed and stunning hair-styles that they showcase.  I love the elegance and artistic traits of a Geisha. From their cute and beautiful traditional Japanese umbrella’s to their traditional style dances.  It takes training to be a Geisha and this occurs in their teenage years. I guess that’s one aspect I am drawn too, they commit to training and being the elegant form of a Geisha. Maiko is a Geisha in training and they live in Geisha houses for five years. Talk about immersing themselves in the complete tradition and transformation to become a Geisha. I also appreciate that they study etiquette. It’s similar to princesses and princes-to be, studying etiquette to be see...

When I was in my 20's, my colleague from work came back from a trip to Japan and he showed me the beautiful architecture of the traditional styled buildings in Japan. And ever since then, I wanted to visit Japan and stay in one of those beautiful places.  If I go to Japan, I need at least one night, where I am basically sleeping on the hard floor. Where they provide a thin mattress and have a Japanese tea ceremony, eating Japanese food. I want the full experience.   The temples, are also stunning:  And the landscape is beautiful. When I was school aged, we visited a Japanese zen garden created within the gardens. I can't remember where this was or even where it was located, but I can imagine the Japanese zen gardens are just so peaceful and awe-inspiring and just make you speechless, no matter the season. This is part of the reason I want to go to Japan,...

Go see a ninja show in Japan

Image
Image by Candra Rustyan from Pixabay One day, when I travel to Japan, I would like to visit a Ninja show. Currently, Shinjuku Ninja Live Show offers acrobatics, drums (which look super cool) and Japanese traditional dance. They also have great performance effects. Each show lasts about 90 minutes and the show is on 3 times a day. Tickets cost 8,000 yen (which as of today is $81.76 AUD - Australian dollars).  I love the majestic movement of Ninja's and have only seen it in TV shows or movies. I have never seen it acted out. And as I have an aerial background, acrobatics seems like a good addition to the performance.  You can check it out here:  SHINJUKU NINJA LIVE SHOW #Japan #Ninja  Follow me on Pinterest at: @melanietoye Follow me on Facebook and receive all my blog posts here:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1AEkVDXzeT/?mibextid=LQQJ4d Subscribe to my Hobbies YouTube channel at littlemissmel23.

Mount Fuji in Japan

Image
^Please note, this blog post uses affiliate links. This means, I receive a percentage of the sale from the seller. Ok, so I admit, I have seen a documentary about people walking up Mount Fuji, and I am afraid of heights, plus there are some parts near the top, where it's uphill and only one or two people can fit through the space. However, I understand many people would love and do love to climb up Mount Fuji.  However, for me, I would be more, looking at the scenic mountain views like this image below ... far away on flat ground. I believe anytime of year, would be ideal to see Mount Fuji. Whether it is snowing, or it's cherry blossom season, the Mountain is epic of Japan and boasts tranquil.  If I fly 8 hours around the sky to then stand in front of this mountain and in awe, I feel like that is 8 hours worth my time. (And I hate flying!) Image sourced via: www.getyourguide.com  Some facts about Mount Fuji: Mount Fuji is the tallest mountain in Japan.  Mount Fuji is...

Where to learn how to speak Japanese

^Please note, this blog post uses affiliate links. This means, I receive a percentage of the sale from the seller. I spent about three months, on and off learning to speak (not read) Japanese. I signed up to www.Japanesepod101.com and received easy and not too long Japanese online classes. What I liked is, you could select what the English words were and what the Japanese words were.  I found the year subscription price, quite affordable, if broken down how much I would be spending a day. For example, I could use the online classes any time of day or night, for a long period or a short period.  I did like how they spoke in English and then in Japanese. I also liked that they had the normal easy starting off Japanese language learning, such as numbers and introducing yourself. But what I really liked is you could also learn full sentences. I like to learn full sentences, because I feel like I can say cooler stuff than just trying to say one word.  If for Christmas or the N...
