Traditional architecture in Japan

When I was in my 20's, my colleague from work came back from a trip to Japan and he showed me the beautiful architecture of the traditional styled buildings in Japan. And ever since then, I wanted to visit Japan and stay in one of those beautiful places. 

If I go to Japan, I need at least one night, where I am basically sleeping on the hard floor. Where they provide a thin mattress and have a Japanese tea ceremony, eating Japanese food. I want the full experience.  

The temples, are also stunning: 

And the landscape is beautiful. When I was school aged, we visited a Japanese zen garden created within the gardens. I can't remember where this was or even where it was located, but I can imagine the Japanese zen gardens are just so peaceful and awe-inspiring and just make you speechless, no matter the season.

This is part of the reason I want to go to Japan, not just for the entertaining events or cool Pokemon plushies, I want to visit the heart of Japan and see it's true beauty.

Go see a ninja show in Japan

Currently, Shinjuku Ninja Live Show offers acrobatics, drums (which look super cool) and Japanese traditional dance. They also have great performance effects. Each show lasts about 90 minutes and the show is on 3 times a day. Tickets cost 8,000 yen (which as of today is $81.76 AUD - Australian dollars).  I love the majestic movement of Ninja's and have only seen it in TV shows or movies. I have never seen it acted out. Where to learn how to speak Japanese

I signed up to www.Japanesepod101.com and received easy and not too long Japanese online classes. What I liked is, you could select what the English words were and what the Japanese words were.  I found the year subscription price, quite affordable, if broken down how much I would be spending a day. For example, I could use the online classes any time of day or night, for a long period or a short period.  I did like how they spoke in English and then in Japanese. I also liked that they had the normal easy starting off Japanese language learning, such as numbers and introducing yourself. But what I really liked is you could also learn full sentences. Welcome to my new blog

Hello and welcome, My name is Mel and I am excited to start this new blog related to Japan travels. I personally haven't visited Japan yet, but I am keen to take my family there in the next ten years. (Seems like a long time, but other goals trump this one at this stage). However, there is nothing wrong with a long goal. I can learn the language and may be even the wording to read while over there.  I have started to learn the Japanese language, such as Watshi wa Mel des. I am Mel and Arigato - Thank you.
